Wapatah and VPIA Open House January 29th

As part of the Wapatah and VPIA Open House we invite all OCAD’s Indigenous students to join us as we showcase and celebrate our ongoing projects as well as opportunities for collaboration. We encourage students to ask us about the upcomingVirtual Platform for Indigenous Art (VPIA)workshops, community outreach, and Arctic Amazon exhibition.

During the Open House our team of developers will introduce and explain the Virtual Platform for Indigenous Art prototype, share project milestones, and invite students to contribute their knowledge through on-site engagement with the platform. VPIA is a custom digital platform being designed and built by Wapatah Centre to facilitate Indigenous access and contributions to Indigenous artworks in museum and gallery collections around the world. By following a crowdsourcing model popularized by Wikipedia, the VPIA will allow institutional artwork records to be transformed into living documents that integrate Indigenous knowledge, language, and protocols.

This free event is facilitated as part of the VPIA project workshop series and in collaboration with Onsite Gallery.

When: Wednesday, January 29th 2020, 2:00pm-5:00pm

Where: OCAD, 205 Richmond Street W, Room 311
